Goodbye in Tunesia

This is about a young Tunesian couple. He has decided to flee the country by boat to find work and try to secure a future for the two of them. She is a single mother with no relatives who had to give up her child for adoption.

I’m so afraid of things to come
Since you told me you were goin’ away
I beg you please, don’t go, just stay
Or take me with you far away

I’m so afraid of things to come
I have no friends, no family
Even my child does not know me
I have no sense of destiny

I’m so afraid of things to come
I watch you while you are asleep
I feel my love, it is so deep
It ‘s only you I want to keep

I’m so afraid of things to come
I cannot help it, have to cry
I cannot stop it, though I try
Just hate that you will say goodbye

I’m so afraid of things to come
I am so scared of the unknown
I’ll have to make it on my own
Without you I feel so alone

...don't think of yourself as a jazz musician. Think of yourself as a human being who plays music
